30-Minute Creamy Cajun Chicken Skillet

Ingredients
  

Chicken and Seasoning
  • 1.5 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts sliced into strips
  • 2 tbsp Cajun seasoning
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter
Vegetables and Sauce
  • 1 yellow onion sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 0.5 tsp dried thyme
  • 0.5 tsp dried oregano
  • 0.5 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 0.5 cup Parmesan cheese freshly grated
  • salt and black pepper to taste
  • fresh parsley chopped, for garnish

Equipment

Method
 

  1. Toss sliced chicken with Cajun seasoning until evenly coated.
  2. Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Add chicken and sear 3–4 minutes per side until golden and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, sauté onion and bell peppers until softened, about 4–5 minutes.
  5. Stir in garlic, smoked paprika, thyme, and oregano; cook 30 seconds until fragrant.
  6. Pour in chicken broth, scraping the bottom of the pan, and simmer 2–3 minutes.
  7. Lower heat and stir in heavy cream and Parmesan until sauce is smooth.
  8. Return chicken to the skillet and simmer 3–4 minutes until heated through and sauce thickens.
  9. Season with salt and pepper to taste, garnish with parsley, and serve.

Notes

Serve over rice, pasta, or with crusty bread. Adjust Cajun seasoning for desired spice level.
