Ingredients

Bread Batter
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp baking soda
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 0.5 tsp nutmeg
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs large
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 0.5 cup whole milk
  • 1.5 cups diced apples
Cinnamon Swirl
  • 0.33 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
Glaze
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tbsp milk or cream
  • 0.5 tsp vanilla extract

Equipment

  • Mixing bowls
  • Baking sheet
  • Wire rack
  • Hand mixer or stand mixer

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×5-inch loaf pan with parchment paper and grease lightly.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla extract, mixing well.
  4. Add half the dry ingredients, followed by milk, then the remaining dry ingredients. Mix gently until combined.
  5. Fold diced apples into the batter until evenly distributed.
  6. Mix brown sugar and cinnamon to create the swirl mixture.
  7. Pour half the batter into the loaf pan, sprinkle with half the cinnamon mixture, then repeat with the remaining batter and cinnamon mixture.
  8. Use a knife to gently swirl the layers together.
  9. Bake for 50–60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  10. Whisk powdered sugar, milk or cream, and vanilla to create the glaze.
  11. Drizzle glaze over the warm bread, slice, and serve.

Notes

For extra moisture, drizzle additional glaze once the loaf cools completely.
