- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9-inch cake pan.
- Whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.
- Cream butter and sugars until light and fluffy.
- Beat in eggs and vanilla.
- Add dry ingredients alternately with milk until combined.
- Fold in diced apples.
- Pour batter into pan and smooth top.
- Bake 35–40 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool completely on a wire rack.
- Whisk glaze ingredients and drizzle over cooled cake.
Notes
Use firm apples for best texture. Cake can be made a day ahead and glazed before serving.
