Ingredients
  

Pudding
  • 6 cups bread cubes day old
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 0.75 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 eggs large
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter melted
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 0.25 tsp salt
  • 0.5 cup raisins optional
Vanilla Sauce
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 0.25 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish.
  2. Place bread cubes evenly in dish.
  3. Whisk milk, cream, sugar, eggs, butter, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt.
  4. Pour mixture over bread and press gently.
  5. Add raisins if using and let soak 10 minutes.
  6. Bake 40–45 minutes until golden and set.
  7. Heat sauce ingredients until sugar dissolves and stir in vanilla.
  8. Serve pudding warm with sauce.

Notes

Use stale bread for best texture. Brioche or challah give richer flavor.
