Ingredients
  

Casserole
  • 12 oz pasta penne or rotini
  • 2 cups cooked ham diced
  • 1.5 cups green peas frozen
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion small, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2.5 cups milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese shredded
  • 0.5 cup mozzarella cheese shredded
  • 0.5 cup Parmesan cheese grated
  • 0.5 cup breadcrumbs optional

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13 baking dish.
  2. Cook pasta until al dente, drain and set aside.
  3. Sauté onion in butter and olive oil until soft, then add garlic.
  4. Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute.
  5. Whisk in milk and cream, cooking until thickened.
  6. Add cheeses and seasoning, stirring until smooth.
  7. Combine sauce with pasta, ham, and peas.
  8. Transfer to baking dish and top with Parmesan and breadcrumbs.
  9. Bake 20–25 minutes until bubbly and golden.

Notes

You can substitute turkey or chicken for ham and add extra vegetables if desired.
