Method
- Rinse and chop the dried chipped beef.
- In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat and whisk in the flour to form a roux.
- Slowly add milk and heavy cream while whisking until smooth and thickened.
- Stir in the chipped beef and simmer for 4–5 minutes.
- Season with black pepper and paprika.
- Toast bread until golden.
- Spoon creamed chipped beef over toast and serve warm.
Notes
For thicker gravy, simmer an extra 2 minutes. Add peas or mushrooms for variation.
