Ingredients
  

Topping
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 20 oz pineapple rings juice reserved
  • 12 maraschino cherries
Cake Batter
  • 1 box Duncan Hines yellow cake mix
  • 3 eggs large
  • 0.33 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup pineapple juice

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Pour melted butter into a 9-inch round cake pan and sprinkle evenly with brown sugar.
  3. Arrange pineapple rings over sugar and place cherries in centers.
  4. Mix cake mix, eggs, oil, and pineapple juice until smooth.
  5. Pour batter gently over pineapple layer and spread evenly.
  6. Bake for 40–45 minutes until toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Cool for 10 minutes, then invert onto serving plate.

Notes

Invert cake while warm for best release and presentation.
