Ingredients
  

Meringues
  • 4 large egg whites room temperature
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.25 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp festive sprinkles or colored sugar

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 225°F (107°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or silicone mat.
  2. In a clean, dry mixing bowl, beat egg whites on medium speed until foamy.
  3. Add cream of tartar and continue beating until soft peaks form.
  4. Gradually add sugar, one tablespoon at a time, beating on high speed until stiff, glossy peaks form.
  5. Fold in vanilla extract and any optional flavors like peppermint or cocoa.
  6. Pipe small meringue kisses onto prepared baking sheet. Sprinkle with festive decorations.
  7. Bake 60–75 minutes until firm. Turn off oven and let meringues cool inside for 30 minutes with the door slightly open.
  8. Store in an airtight container at room temperature. Serve or gift as desired.

Notes

Ensure bowls are completely dry. Avoid high humidity to keep meringues crisp.
