Ingredients
  

Cookie Batter
  • 2.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp baking soda
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.25 tsp nutmeg optional
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 egg large
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter melted
  • 0.75 cup whole milk
  • 0.25 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
Maple Glaze
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 0.33 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1-2 tbsp milk or cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
Bacon Topping
  • 6 slices bacon cooked until crisp and chopped

Method
 

  1. Whisk dry ingredients together in a bowl: flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, sugar, and nutmeg.
  2. In another bowl, whisk eggs, melted butter, milk, maple syrup, and vanilla.
  3. Combine the wet and dry ingredients and mix until a thick dough forms.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a pot to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Roll dough to 1/2-inch thickness and cut donuts with a donut cutter.
  6. Fry donuts 1–2 minutes per side until golden brown, then cool on wire rack.
  7. Whisk powdered sugar, maple syrup, milk, and vanilla to make glaze.
  8. Dip donuts in maple glaze and top with crispy bacon pieces.

Notes

Best enjoyed fresh. Use real maple syrup for the richest flavor.
