- In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix to form soft dough.
- Knead dough on floured surface for 5–7 minutes until smooth. Place in greased bowl, cover, and let rise 1 hour.
- In a saucepan, combine tomato sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, basil, salt, pepper, and olive oil. Simmer 5–7 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 475°F (245°C). Roll dough to desired thickness and transfer to greased baking sheet or pizza stone.
- Spread sauce over dough, sprinkle mozzarella, and arrange pepperoni.
- Bake 12–15 minutes until crust is golden and cheese is bubbly. Garnish with basil and red pepper flakes.
- Slice and serve warm.
Notes
For a crispier crust, preheat a pizza stone before placing the pizza on it. Dough can be made ahead and refrigerated overnight.
