Easy Homemade Pepperoni Pizza

Ingredients
  

Dough
  • 2.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2.25 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water 110°F/45°C
Quick Sauce
  • 15 oz tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 0.5 tsp dried basil
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp olive oil
Toppings
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 20-25 slices pepperoni
  • 1 tbsp fresh basil leaves optional
  • 0.25 tsp crushed red pepper flakes optional

Method
 

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix to form soft dough.
  3. Knead dough on floured surface for 5–7 minutes until smooth. Place in greased bowl, cover, and let rise 1 hour.
  4. In a saucepan, combine tomato sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, basil, salt, pepper, and olive oil. Simmer 5–7 minutes.
  5. Preheat oven to 475°F (245°C). Roll dough to desired thickness and transfer to greased baking sheet or pizza stone.
  6. Spread sauce over dough, sprinkle mozzarella, and arrange pepperoni.
  7. Bake 12–15 minutes until crust is golden and cheese is bubbly. Garnish with basil and red pepper flakes.
  8. Slice and serve warm.

Notes

For a crispier crust, preheat a pizza stone before placing the pizza on it. Dough can be made ahead and refrigerated overnight.
