Method
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add egg and vanilla, mixing well.
- Add dry ingredients gradually to form dough.
- Divide dough into three portions; tint one red, one green, and leave one plain.
- Press and twist dough sections into a swirl log without overmixing.
- Slice into 1/2-inch rounds and roll edges in sprinkles.
- Bake 10–12 minutes until set but soft in the center.
- Cool 5 minutes on tray, then transfer to rack.
Notes
For brighter color, use gel food coloring. Chill dough briefly if too soft to slice.
