Ingredients
  

Cookie Batter
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar packed
  • 2 eggs large
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips optional

Equipment

  • Hand mixer or stand mixer

Method
 

  1. Melt butter and chocolate together until smooth. Cool slightly.
  2. Beat sugars and eggs for 3–4 minutes until pale and thick.
  3. Add vanilla and melted chocolate mixture and mix until smooth.
  4. Whisk flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt in another bowl. Fold into wet mixture.
  5. Fold in chocolate chips. Chill dough for 15–20 minutes until scoopable.
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  7. Scoop dough onto baking sheets, leaving space for spreading.
  8. Bake 10–12 minutes until tops are shiny and edges set. Cool on a wire rack.

Notes

For extra shine on top, beat eggs and sugars longer. Do not overbake.
