Ingredients
  

Dough
  • 3.75 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2.25 tsp active dry yeast
  • 0.75 cup whole milk warm
  • 0.25 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.33 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 egg large
  • 1 tsp salt
Filling
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 0.75 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1.5 tbsp cinnamon
Caramel Sauce
  • 0.75 cup brown sugar packed
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter
  • 0.25 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 0.75 cup pecans chopped, optional

Equipment

  • Mixing bowls

  • Stand mixer or hand mixer

Method
 

  1. Activate yeast in warm milk with sugar until foamy.
  2. Mix in butter, egg, salt, and flour to form dough; knead until smooth.
  3. Let dough rise until doubled.
  4. Prepare caramel sauce and pour into baking dish.
  5. Roll dough, fill with cinnamon sugar, slice into buns.
  6. Place buns over caramel and let rise again.
  7. Bake until golden and bubbling.
  8. Invert warm buns onto serving platter and serve.

Notes

Invert while warm for best gooey texture.
