Ingredients
  

Butter Dough
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 egg large
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 0.5 tsp salt
Caramel Filling
  • 1 cup caramel sauce thick
  • 0.5 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 0.5 tsp flaky sea salt plus extra for topping

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9x13-inch pan with parchment paper.
  2. Mix melted butter and sugar until smooth. Add egg and vanilla.
  3. Stir in flour and salt until dough forms.
  4. Press two-thirds of dough into prepared pan.
  5. Mix caramel sauce with condensed milk and spread over dough.
  6. Sprinkle with flaky sea salt.
  7. Top with remaining dough in small pieces.
  8. Bake 28–32 minutes until golden. Cool completely before slicing.

Notes

For extra gooey bars, slightly underbake and chill before slicing.
