Method
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish.
- Place bread cubes in dish and sprinkle raisins on top.
- Whisk milk, cream, eggs, sugars, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and melted butter.
- Pour custard over bread and press gently to soak.
- Let stand 15 minutes.
- Bake 40–45 minutes until golden and set.
- Heat butter, sugar, and cream in saucepan until smooth.
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
- Serve pudding warm topped with sauce.
Notes
Best made with slightly stale bread for ideal texture and flavor absorption.
