Ingredients
  

Cookie Batter
  • 3 cups granulated sugar
  • 0.67 cup Hershey’s cocoa powder
  • 0.125 tsp salt
  • 1.5 cups whole milk
  • 0.25 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Method
 

  1. Prepare an 8x8-inch pan by lightly buttering it.
  2. Mix sugar, cocoa, and salt in a heavy saucepan.
  3. Gradually add milk and stir until combined.
  4. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture begins to boil.
  5. Add butter but do not stir; allow it to melt as mixture cooks.
  6. Cook to 234°F (soft-ball stage) without stirring.
  7. Remove from heat and cool to 110°F undisturbed.
  8. Add vanilla and beat until fudge thickens and loses shine.
  9. Spread into prepared pan and cool completely.

Notes

For best texture, do not stir once the mixture begins boiling. Use a candy thermometer for accuracy.
