Ingredients
  

Candy Base
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup whole milk
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2.5 cups chopped nuts pecans, walnuts, peanuts, or mixed
  • salt pinch

Method
 

  1. Prepare an 8×8 pan with parchment or grease lightly.
  2. Combine sugar, milk, butter, and salt in a saucepan over medium heat until butter melts and sugar dissolves.
  3. Continue cooking to soft-ball stage (235°F), stirring regularly.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Fold in chopped nuts quickly before mixture stiffens.
  6. Spread mixture evenly into prepared pan.
  7. Cool completely, then cut into squares.

Notes

Toast the nuts for extra flavor, and allow the candy to cool completely for clean slicing.
