Ingredients
  

Casserole
  • 4 bone-in pork chops thick cut
  • 3 cups sauerkraut drained
  • 2 onions sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 potatoes thinly sliced
  • 1 apple sliced, optional
  • 1 tsp caraway seeds
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp olive oil or butter
  • 0.5 cup chicken broth or apple cider

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a casserole dish.
  2. Season pork chops with salt, pepper, and paprika.
  3. Heat oil in a skillet and sear pork chops on both sides.
  4. Sauté sliced onions and garlic in the same skillet.
  5. Layer potatoes, onions, apples, sauerkraut, and caraway seeds in the casserole dish.
  6. Place seared pork chops on top of the sauerkraut layer.
  7. Pour chicken broth or apple cider evenly over the dish.
  8. Cover with foil and bake for 60 minutes.
  9. Remove foil and bake an additional 20–25 minutes.
  10. Let rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

For a sweeter variation, add extra apples or a splash of apple cider.
