Method
- Season chicken with salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- Lightly dredge chicken in flour and shake off excess.
- Heat oil in skillet and brown chicken on both sides until golden. Remove and set aside.
- Add butter and onions to skillet and cook until softened.
- Stir in garlic and cook until fragrant.
- Sprinkle remaining flour into skillet and cook briefly to form roux.
- Gradually whisk in chicken broth and milk until smooth.
- Return chicken to skillet, cover, and simmer 30 minutes until tender.
- Adjust seasoning and serve hot with gravy spooned over chicken.
Notes
For thicker gravy simmer uncovered last 5 minutes. For extra flavor add mushrooms or a dash of hot sauce.
