Stuffed Cabbage Rolls
  • 1 large head green cabbage
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 onion finely diced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 0.5 tsp thyme dried
  • 0.25 cup fresh parsley chopped
Sauce
  • 3 cups tomato sauce
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp pepper
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Equipment

Method
 

  1. Boil cabbage and remove softened leaves.
  2. Mix ground meat, rice, onions, garlic, egg, and seasonings.
  3. Fill cabbage leaves with mixture and roll tightly.
  4. Prepare tomato sauce with broth, seasonings, and tomato paste.
  5. Layer cabbage rolls in a baking dish and pour sauce over.
  6. Bake at 350°F for 75–90 minutes until tender.

Notes

Stuffed cabbage rolls taste even better the next day as flavors develop.
