- Combine warm milk and sugar in a bowl. Sprinkle yeast over top and let stand until foamy.
- Add olive oil and salt. Gradually mix in flour until a soft dough forms.
- Knead dough on a floured surface until smooth and elastic, about 8–10 minutes.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled, about 60 minutes.
- Mix butter, garlic, herbs, and seasonings in a small bowl.
- Roll dough into a rectangle. Spread garlic butter evenly and sprinkle with cheese.
- Roll tightly into a log and place seam-side down in a greased loaf pan.
- Let rise again for 30 minutes. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 30–35 minutes until golden.
Notes
For extra flavor, brush the top with melted butter and sprinkle with herbs immediately after baking.
